Low-carbon Transformation in Taiwan Power System – Risks and Reaction Strategy

Ssu-Li Chang, Dist. Professor, Institute of Natural Resources Management, National Taipei University

There are frequent changes in Taiwan's renewable energy installation and promotion targets, especially in the variable generation technologies like solar energy and wind power. The planned capacity of the installation and power generation has been continuously raised, showing that they play pivotal roles in the process of low-carbon transformation in our power system. How to ensure the smooth implementation of the targets in various phases, through the integration of technology, regulatory policies and market mechanism, and how to strengthen the coherence of each aspect are the focus of current policy implementation.
