Our world is undergoing major transformational changes at global, regional and local scales, and Taiwan is similarly being swept up in the path of change. In order for our societies to withstand such change, and to emerge even stronger, we need to consolidate the best research and practices to help guide us in our policy thinking. To this end, the Risk Society and Policy Research Center (RSPRC) aspires to strengthen our collaborations and cross-disciplinary research, and to act as a bridge between the various stakeholders in our society, such as between the government, public, civil society and businesses, so as to enhance the communication among these various groups to build a consensus on the way forward for our society.
In recent years, the RSPRC has increasingly focused on issues such as sustainable development, energy transition, climate change and digital transformation, as these begin to take center stage, and to understand the impact that they have on our society. Over the last five years, our center has produced more than 60 publications on policy research and analysis, in areas such as sustainability, risk management and relevant social policies, some of which we have partnered with other academic institutions and think tanks to publish. Through these publications, we aim to generate and disseminate new knowledge and to facilitate policy discussions to effect social change over the long term.
As part of our center's efforts to make academic research more widely accessible, some of our publications such as the working papers, have also been made free for the public to access, and academic writings which are of greater social concern have also been translated into easy-to-read publications, such as the Taiwan Risk Analysis Report which we produce on an annual basis. It is hoped that these publications would enable policy ideas and knowledge to be shared with the different audiences, in order to promote sustained and in-depth discussions, so that it will encourage greater social participation and commitment in dealing with these issues.
As one of Taiwan's leading think tanks spearheading the discussion on the transformational challenges of our time, the continued emphasis on publications will enable the public to better connect with these issues and highlight the RSPRC as a center of excellence in the global academic landscape.
