The energy policy under the Merkel government both features in reducing demand and securing supply. For the reduced demand, it is realized through the improvement of energy efficiency; making use of varies materials to enhance the use of energy in the process of manufacture, storage, and distribution. For the side of securing supply, it stressed on the application of renewable energy, especially in the fields of hydraulic, wind, and photovoltaic power, further extending to biomass, heat and solar heat.
