Since 2009, the success of commercial mining of "shale gas" has made the US the world's largest natural gas producer. Now, about a quarter of natural gas produced in the United States is "shale gas", and there is no doubt that its share will continue to increase. At the same time, the mining of "shale crude" in the sane scale is now in progress as well, and it is generally assumed that the United States will become the world's largest crude producer by around 2017 and will even be able to turn from an importing country to exporting country.
