Taiwan is a small island with dense population. In the face of the possible impact of climate change on coastal area, we cannot regard land and sea as two separated systems, and the interaction between the two systems must be taken into consideration. In addition to strengthening the defense and protection of coastal areas, the adaptation strategy should consider the features such as coastal flows and coastal terrains, and hence develop appropriate adjustment measures and management guidelines.
